This paper discusses the legal requirements and ramifications of unification, using the unification of Germany as an example, noting first the requirement for some measure of harmonization of the different political and legal regimes, then noting how the Unification Treaty in the German case served as the basis for the unification, and how that law helped gain international acceptance.
