Leisure: A Discussion of its Manifestations and Social Functions in the Past, Present and Future.
This essay will explore the role of leisure (including both recreation and tourism) in present-day society from a comparative, interdisciplinary perspective. It will be argued that to understand how women and men in the Western world today understand and enjoy leisure, we must first grasp the historical origins of the concept.
