This paper is a literary analysis of the book "Ibn Battuta in Black Africa". It discusses particular customs and characteristics and the ones that Ibn Battuta pointed out for commendation. The paper goes on to discuss why Ibn Battuta had problems with some of the customs? Why did he approve of others? With what people was he comparing the local peoples? Do the customs with which he approves or disapproves fall into and general categories?
